Muhammad Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic held a meeting with Dr. Darin Suleiman, the President of the National Union of students of Syria. The meeting was attended by Gays Al-Harki, counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia and Dr. Ali Barakat, the head of the Department of External Relations of the National Union of students of Syria.

During the meeting, ways of cooperation and development of student, scientific and academic relations between Abkhazia and Syria were discussed, as well as the proposal of the Ambassador of Abkhazia on the possibility of creating of a branch of the National Union of Students of Syria in the Republic of Abkhazia.

The Republic of Abkhazia, on behalf of the Leadership of the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia has been hosting students from the Syrian Arab Republic for the second year in a row. In addition, the Governments of both countries are working to strengthen and expand the structure of scientific cooperation by signing of an agreement on scientific cooperation between the Abkhaz State University and Damascus University and an agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education between the Ministries of Education of Abkhazia and Syria in the near future.

Dareen Suleiman noted the important role of the National Union of Syrian Students in developing of educational life, the university's connection with society, strengthening of the connection of students studying abroad with their homeland, as well as in guiding of their cultural, political and scientific activities.
