Khibla Amichba, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Federal Republic of Germany and PhD in Philology, participated in an event for International Mother Language Day held at Humboldt University.
The event, dedicated to the so-called minor languages of Berlin and their literature, was held in the amphitheater hall of Humboldt University as part of a joint project between the university and the Leibniz Center for General Linguistics (ZAS).
For several years, the Abkhaz language and its speakers have participated in various stages of the "Berlin Speaks" project and were also included in the interactive language map of Berlin. Recordings by Abkhaz speakers were included among the approximately 180 languages spoken in the German capital. The Abkhaz language is being studied and will continue to be the subject of specialized research by German linguists and is also featured in academic studies of Germany's linguistic diversity.
