On August 15, this year, the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of South Ossetia held a reception on the occasion of Volunteer Day, celebrated in Abkhazia.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Elbakiyev expressed gratitude to the volunteers who came to the aid of the people of Abkhazia during the most difficult period for them.
“On August 14, 1992, the troops of the State Council of Georgia invaded the Republic of Abkhazia, and the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia 1992-1993 began. It ended with the victory of the people of the Republic of Abkhazia on September 30, 1993. We will always be grateful to the volunteers from fraternal South Ossetia, who fought shoulder to shoulder with the people of Abkhazia in the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia in 1992-1993. The people of South Ossetia were also forced to defend peace in their native land from Georgian fascism with arms in their hands,” the diplomat said.
Alan Elbakiyev emphasized that Abkhazia honors and will always remember the feat of all volunteers who came to the aid of the Abkhazian people, their contribution to the victory.
The ambassador noted the fraternal nature of the interstate Abkhazian-South Ossetian cooperation and emphasized the importance of its further development and strengthening for the benefit of the peoples of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia.
