On June 20, 2025, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Zaur Gvadzhava, at the invitation of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Venezuela Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, took part in the memorial ceremony "Candle of Memory".

The ceremony, which took place on the eve of the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow on June 22, was held in the center of Caracas on the square of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War over Nazism and Fascism.

The event was organized with the support of the Russian Embassy in Venezuela, the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Caracas, and the Coordination Council of Russian compatriots living in Venezuela.

Those present honored the memory of the feats of the Soviet people with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. 27 candles were lit, symbolizing the 27 million lives lost by the Soviet Union in the fight against Nazism.
