Under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Compatriots Abroad of the Syrian Arab Republic, in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs of Syria and with the participation of Embassies and diplomatic missions accredited in the Syrian Arab Republic (Abkhazia, Bahrain, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Indonesia, Sudan, Paraguay, representatives of the UN and Syria), a diplomatic table tennis tournament was held in Damascus from 16 to 17 May.

On May 17, 2025, Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree “On the admission to citizenship of the Russian Federation of citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia”.

Today we celebrate the 32-nd anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia. Vladislav Grigorievich Ardzinba signed the decree on the establishment of the Ministry on May 17, 1993 being the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia.
