The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia is closely monitoring the situation surrounding the detention and subsequent arrest of Irakli Bzhinava, a citizen of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation and is taking the necessary measures to clarify the situation with the Russian authorities.

On February 5, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia between Irakli Tuzhba, Acting Minister and Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Elchin Adzinba, a representative of the Abkhaz diaspora in Turkey and associate professor at Adnan Menderes University (Turkey).

Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, congratulated Igor Akhba, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation, on his birthday.

A working meeting was held at the Official Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic between Alexander Vataman, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, and Alexander Karasev, Editor-in-Chief of the Republican Newspaper "Pridnestrovie."

On February 3, a meeting was held between Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Konstantin Kochiev, State Advisor to the President of the Republic of South Ossetia.

A meeting was held in Moscow between Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Sergei Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Moscow Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations.

During a working visit to the Russian Federation, Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia met with Alba Azucena Torres Mejia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation and concurrently to th e Republic of Abkhazia.

During a working visit to the Russian Federation by Oleg Bartsits, Foreign Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Jesús Rafael Salazar Velázquez, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Russian Federation and concurrently to the Republicof Abkhazia.

By order of Oleg Bartsits, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Aiba Alias Daurovich, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of Nicaragua has been appointed Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of Nicaragua until the appointment of the Ambassador to the Republic of Nicaragua.

By decree of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Badra Gunba, Inar Igorevich Ladaria has been relieved of his post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Nicaragua.
