The UN General Assembly resolution "On the situation of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia" was adopted without taking into account the opinion of the Abkhazian side.

According to Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Odissei Bigvava, from year to year the document is adopted without the participation and opinion of the Abkhazian side.

This year, Russia, Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Zimbabwe, Mali, Nicaragua, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea voted against the resolution initiated by Georgia. According to Bigvava, there could have been many more countries if Abkhazia had the opportunity to present its position.

He drew attention to the fact that among those who abstained from voting there were such influential states as China, India, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

"This is a significant indicator that many countries are not ready to follow the blatant lies and propaganda of Georgia and its partners, which have been unceremoniously imposed on the entire world community for decades," he emphasized.

As for the issue of refugees, first of all, we must proceed from the fact that Georgia itself created the conditions for the emergence of this issue by starting a war against Abkhazia, added Odissei Bigvava. In addition, it is important who, in Tbilisi's opinion, falls into this category.

"The Georgian side talks about refugees and so-called internally displaced persons, which is fundamentally wrong from a legal point of view. The category of "internally displaced persons" cannot be applied to persons of Georgian nationality who left Abkhazia. Georgians have returned to their historical homeland and are not forced migrants, but repatriates," the diplomat emphasized.
