The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sadly announces that Igor Muratovich Akhba, a prominent statesman and diplomat of the Republic of Abkhazia and the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation passed away in Sukhum on August 18 at the age of 76 after a long and serious illness.
Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia congratulated Garry Kupalba, Head of the Official Representation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Republic of Abkhazia on his birthday.

Today, August 14, marks 34 years since the start of the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia (1992-1993).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia notes with concern reports of pressure on experts and human rights activists raising issues related to the rights of citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia.
A consultative meeting was held at the Plenipotentiary Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Turkey with representatives of the Federation of Abkhaz Associations— Yavuz Ilkuchar (Atyrshba), Chairman, Shamil Zeren (Yashba), Secretary, General Board Members Bulent Barysh (Pechlia), Selda Oztaş (Byjpkha), and Dzhankat Yelkat (Ubykh), as well as Chairman of the Abkhaz Cultural Center "Daryeri" Atanur Aksoy (Akuspa)—and the initiative group "End the Isolation of Abkhazia," consisting of Cengiz Gul (Gogua), Anit Baba (Pabba), Ulvi Ozcan (Khukshi), Ahmet Babaoglu, Bilge Eken, and Dilara Tan (Kabypkha).
Nuri Khvartskiy, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation attended a diplomatic reception organized by the Center for Public Diplomacy, which took place in Moscow as part of the presentation of a platform for Russian-African dialogue.
On August 8-9, the traditional annual summer cultural and gastronomic festival took place in Managua, Republic of Nicaragua, bringing together representatives from more than 40 countries.

On August 6, 2026, at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of the Syrian Arab Republic, Muhammad Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia attended the opening of the 2026 Syrian Summer Family Festival in the Damascus Citadel.
