On this day, February 27, 1919, the first issue of the newspaper in the Abkhaz language «Apsny» was published edited by Dmitry Iosifovich Gulia, the founder of Abkhaz literature.

Domestic journalism has come a long way; its strong professional traditions have been formed.

Today it is difficult to imagine life without mass media. The media, being an integral part of the life of the state, play a significant role in the life of society, informing it, covering current events.
