Media reported restrictions on crossing the Abkhazian-Russian state border by citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia who also hold Russian citizenship.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that consultations are underway with relevant Russian agencies. At the moment, there are no changes in the regime for crossing the Abkhazian-Russian state border.

The Republic of Abkhazia refers to the fact that the regime for crossing the Abkhazian-Russian state border is regulated by the intergovernmental agreement on mutual visa-free travel for citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia and citizens of the Russian Federation dated October 2, 2009, according to which citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia and citizens of the Russian Federation can cross the Abkhazian-Russian state border with one of the valid identity documents confirming citizenship of the Republic of Abkhazia or the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia will provide additional information on this matter following consultations with Russian colleagues.
