In response to the interview with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, in which issues of restoring Georgia's territorial integrity are discussed, we would like to emphasize that the statements of the Georgian leadership demonstrate the unwillingness to move away from old approaches that have long ceased to correspond to the current realities.
The Republic of Abkhazia is an independent state that has determined its independent status based on the will of its people. Further coexistence with Georgia is possible on the basis of good-neighborliness and mutual respect.
Instead of declarations on the restoration of territorial integrity, we would like to see a desire for constructive dialogue and the search for compromises that will create peaceful and mutually beneficial relations. Abkhazian side has repeatedly called for and continues to be open to discussing issues related to the conclusion of a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia, as well as the opening of communications. This will certainly contribute to stability in the region.
