Message from Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia addressed to representatives of the Abkhaz Diaspora living abroad on the occasion of the Memorial Day of the Victims of the Caucasian War.
In the message, in particular, it is noted:
"The events of the 19th century turned into hard trials that changed the destinies of many thousands of people and divided the peoples on both sides of the Black Sea. But these tests did not break the single spirit of our people - our ancestors, living in different parts of the world were able to preserve their traditions and national identity, passing on to young generations the love of their historical homeland and their people.
I am deeply convinced that, without forgetting the tragic pages of the history of the Abkhaz and brotherly peoples of the North Caucasus we must do our utmost to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
Today the Republic of Abkhazia is developing confidently. Joint efforts of the Abkhazian State and its citizens are doing much to preserve the language, culture and traditions of our people, as well as to strengthen ties with our brothers living abroad.
I express assurances that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia will continue to contribute to strengthening of close cooperation with representatives of the Abkhaz Diaspora and the diaspora of the peoples of the North Caucasus with a historical homeland. "
