Muhammad Ali, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic met with His Beatitude Patriarch Youssef Al-Absi, Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Antioch and the whole East.

The meeting took place in Damascus.

The parties discussed the mechanism of cultural cooperation between Abkhazia and Syria with an emphasis on pilgrimage and historical shrines.

The situation in the Middle East region has been considered. The Ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia to the SAR emphasized the need for cooperation and joining forces with all countries friendly to Syria to lift its economic blockade that arose as a result of unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria by Western countries.

Both sides condemned what was happening in the Gaza Sector. The need for intervention by the international community to stop Israeli aggression was noted.

The meeting was attended by Counselor of the Embassy of Abkhazia, Head of the Consular Department Gais al-Harki. The parties agreed on further consultations.
