Today, a working meeting took place between Alexandra Vataman, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR and Vitaly Yankovsky, the Head of the Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the PMR, with Alexander Korshunov. the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR on external relations Sergey Shirokov.
Welcoming the guests, Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Pridnestrovie noted that such meetings, although working, are traditionally friendly in nature, and they are important for strengthening ties between Pridnestrovie, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
The Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR expressed gratitude for the meeting and noted the readiness of the Official Representation for active cooperation with the Parliament of Pridnestrovie.
Alexander Vataman informed the meeting participants about the general situation in the Republic of Abkhazia, noting that the peoples of Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie. brought up on the same history and the same human values, celebrate the same memorable dates. This allows for the joint participation of youth, schoolchildren and students in various forums, competitions and other events, including those held on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The Abkhaz diplomat spoke about the interaction between Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie in 2024, highlighting that such interaction is being built both on various online platforms and in the usual format of working meetings.
This year, several visits of heads of Pridnestrovian departments to Abkhazia took place. Alexander Stetsyuk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR held meetings in Abkhazia; Kristina Albul, Minister of Health took part in the international medical conference that took place in Sukhum.
Leonid Manakov, the Head of the Official Representation of the PMR in Russia, and Vitaly Bondar, the Assistant to the President of the PMR, , visited Abkhazia to participate in the festive events.
Several more visits are planned this year.
Amina Lakoba, a teacher at the Department of Civil Law and Process of the Abkhaz State University took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Yakovlev Readings” 2024, which was held by the Faculty of Law of PSU.
In 2024, cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Prosecutor's Offices, Supreme Courts and Ministries of Defense of our Republics was further continued. An updated agreement between Pridnestrovian and Abkhazian state universities is being prepared for signing.
In connection with the 80-th anniversary of the Yassko-Chisinau operation and the liberation of the city of Bendery from the German-Romanian occupiers, the sister cities of Ochamchyra and Bendery are holding a number of joint events this year.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on establishing and promoting cooperation between Pridnestrovie, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, expressing interest in further deepening the existing friendly relations between the fraternal Republics.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue in the spirit of mutual understanding and constructive cooperation.
