Zaur Gvajawa, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Nicaragua met with the Minister of Culture of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Ernesto Villegas Polyak and Oscar Machuca Hernandez, the Director General of the Ministry of Culture, General on August 31, 2021.

The issues of strengthening and developing the relations between Venezuela and Abkhazia were discussed during the meeting. In particular, the issues in the field of culture on the basis of the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on cooperation in the field of culture", which was signed in 2017 during the visit of the delegation headed by Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The meeting took place at the Presidential House in the city of Caracas

The purpose of the meeting was to resume the cultural cooperation interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and to plan future projects between the two countries.

The parties exchanged views on the current state of the bilateral cooperation, discussed the aspects of further interaction in the field of culture and strengthening the relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Zaur Gvajawa, the Ambassador thanked the Minister for the invitation and spoke on the history, culture and tourism of the Republic of Abkhazia.

He also recalled that two presidents of the Republic of Abkhazia had visited Venezuela and expressed his hope that soon a high level delegation would come to the Republic of Abkhazia to further strengthen of the friendship ties.

In turn, Minister Villegas thanked the ambassador for the visit and expressed his readiness for further bilateral cultural cooperation.

 Minister Villegas also expressed his interest in the sports life of Zaur Gvajawa, who was the coach of the Venezuelan national boxing team before his appointment as the Ambassador.

He was also very interested in the first didactic book on boxing that the Ambassador wrote for the Venezuelan national boxing team. The Minister invited the Ambassador to present his book at the next International Book Fair (Filven), which will take place in November this year.

The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. At the end of the meeting there was an exchange of gifts.
