A consular department has been created at the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Syrian Arab Republic to assist compatriots living in the Syrian Arab Republic, the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic.

Our compatriot Geis Al-Harki was appointed as a head of the consular department.

The consular department of the Embassy of Abkhazia in Syria is entrusted with the following functions:

Authentication of documents issued on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia, intended for use on the territory of the SAR;

Authentication of documents issued in the SAR intended for use on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia, including invoices, commercial documents and powers of attorney;

Possibility of renewing of identity documents for citizens of Abkhazia living in the SAR and other citizens of the Abkhaz community living in the countries of the Middle East.

The Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the SAR in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia plans to provide other consular services aimed at helping and assisting of Abkhaz citizens in Syria and the countries of the Middle East.

This initiative was first voiced by compatriots during a meeting with Inal Ardzinba, the Foreign Minister of Abkhazia in Damascus in December 2023.
