On February 10, 2024, Zaur Gvadzhava, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, at the invitation of Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Venezuela took part in the opening of the exhibition “Russian Art of the 20th Century in Venezuela.” 

The opening ceremony took place at the National Art Gallery in Caracas.

The exhibition was opened by Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov, Russian Ambassador and Venezuelan Minister of Culture Ernesto Villegas.

According to Ambassador Melik-Bagdasarov, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the works of such world-famous masters as V. Kandinsky, N. Ferdinandov, M. Chagall. The exhibition features 58 works. The Ambassador also thanked the Venezuelan Ministry of Culture for its assistance in implementing this project.

Ernesto Villegas, Culture Minister emphasized that the exhibition is a bridge to 20th century art. It is part of the cultural heritage of Russia and Venezuela.
