On the meeting with the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions

On March 13, 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Iraklii Tuzhba held a meeting with the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasus - with the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar, the UN Representative Cihan Sultanoğlu and the OSCE Representative Siegfried Wöber. From the Abkhazian side, the meeting was attended by the officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, participants in the Geneva discussions Lasha Avidzba and Artur Gaguliia. The main topic of the meeting was the agenda for the upcoming 60th round of the Geneva International Discussions.

During the talks, it was once again emphasized that for the Abkhazian side, the issue of signing of the non-use of force document between the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia remains a key aspect of the work of the GID.

During the consultations, participants focused on the issues of resuming the work of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), issues related to freedom of movement, as well as other pressing issues on the agenda of the upcoming round of the GID.

The Abkhazian side expressed readiness to continue working in the format of the Geneva International Discussions, which are the only international platform within which security issues in the South Caucasus are discussed.

The next round of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasus is scheduled for April 4-5, 2024.
