The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a note of condolences to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the start of Georgia's armed aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia.

The note, in particular, says:

“Georgia's treacherous attack on South Ossetia on August 8, 2008 once again showed the international community the true face and intentions of Mikhail Saakashvili's criminal regime. The people of South Ossetia, at the cost of the lives of their sons and daughters, defended the freedom and independence of the Motherland, defended their future.

The tragic events of August 2008 became a turning point in the recent history of South Ossetia. The subsequent recognition of the Republic of South Ossetia as a sovereign and independent state by the Russian Federation was the restoration of historical justice and a reliable guarantee of security and stability both in the republic and in the region as a whole.

Today, in the Republic of Abkhazia, which survived the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia in 1992-1993, together with the fraternal South Ossetian people, we honor the memory of those who gave the most priceless - their lives for the sake of peace in the South Ossetian land".
