From May 29 to June 9, 2023, advanced training courses were held for employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia under the Office of Professional Retraining in International Relations of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of the course, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia met with the Head of the Department of Abkhazia and South Ossetia of the Fourth Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ruben Malayan. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the issues of Abkhazian-Russian interaction.

During the course, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia also met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the DPR to the Russian Federation Olga Makeeva. The main topic of the meeting was Russia's Special Military Operation in Ukraine. 

The delegation also visited the photo exhibition "Russia Through the Eyes of Fidel Castro", which was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to the Russian Federation Julio Antonio Garmendia Peña. An officer of the MFA of Abkhazia, Saria Dzhopua, told about the visit of Fidel Castro to Abkhazia in 1963 and expressed her hope for the soonest recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by the Republic of Cuba.
