We drew attention to the information that appeared in the media on the meeting of F. Guliyev, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia with R. Abashidze, the “head of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia”.

As reported, F. Guliyev noted that "the end of the aggression, the occupation of our lands, which lasted on 30 years and the restoration of the country's territorial integrity will bring positive changes not only for Azerbaijan, but also for the region as a whole."

The Ambassador made a rather ambiguous statement, which only fuels revanchist sentiments in Georgia and nullifies the efforts made by the parties at the Geneva International Discussions on Security and stability in Transcaucasia probably not having a clear idea of the nature of the conflicts and contradictions dividing Abkhazia and Georgia and being in a state of euphoria.

In addition, the very meeting of the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia with a representative of the illegitimate "government of Autonomous Abkhazia", which has no legal basis to speak on behalf of the people of the Republic of Abkhazia, is outrageous.

The Abkhaz side intends to touch upon the fact of the provocative meeting of F. Guliyev, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia with R. Abashidze during the upcoming round of Geneva international discussions.
