Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia held a meeting with Louise Winton, the UNDP Resident Representative on April 17,2020.

The Foreign Minister of Abkhazia thanked Louise Winton for helping the Republic in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19.
Daur Kove noted that the number of people infected with COVID-19 in the Republic is only 3 people at the moment. He emphasized that the measures taken by the government of Abkhazia certainly give the results and the situation is under control.

The Minister asked Louise Winton on the possibility of helping with the acquisition of a computer tomograph for the Gudauta Central District Hospital, which is a reserve hospital for patients with coronavirus infection. The head of the country's Foreign Ministry stressed that the virus can still come to the Republic and it is very important to be prepared for the peak of the epidemic and here, of course, the help of international organizations will be invaluable.

Louise Winton, in turn, announced that she had visited the Central Gudauta Hospital yesterday and was glad to be able to directly transfer the part of the brought protective equipment, in particular, N95 masks and disposable protective suits. She informed the Minister that the rest of these funds are in warehouses and the Ministry of Health of Abkhazia is distributing them.
Louise Winton also shared with the Minister on her impressions of the meeting with the collective of Gudaustkaya CRH. She noted that she was pleasantly impressed by the professionalism and high level of training of the young staff of the hospital.

As part of the meeting, Louise Winton once again emphasized that UNDP is ready to continue to provide all possible assistance to Abkhazia in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection.
