On December 11, 2023, in Damascus, as part of a working visit to the Syrian Arab Republic, Inal Ardzinba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, held a meeting with representatives of the Abkhaz-Abaza and Circassian diasporas in the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as with the board of directors of the Circassian Charitable Association in the SAR.
During the meeting, Inal Ardzinba informed the audience on current issues of the regional and international agenda, as well as key aspects of Abkhaz- Syrian bilateral relations. The minister also especially emphasized the role of the Abkhaz-Abaza and Circassian diasporas in the SAR in strengthening of relations between Abkhazia and Syria.
In addition, Ardzinba especially emphasized the importance of the strategic alliance of Abkhazia and Syria with the Russian Federation in confronting of the collective West, the formation of a more just, multipolar world order, pointing to the disruptive role of Western countries in the Caucasus region, preventing the signing of a legally binding document on international guarantees of the non-use of force aimed at ensuring stability and security in the Transcaucasus, and, moreover, actively working to promote the idea ofopening a second front between Georgia and Abkhazia near the borders with Russia.
Representatives of the Abkhaz-Abaza and Circassian diasporas in the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR), in turn, raised issues of concern to the Abkhaz and Circassian community of the SAR and the countries of the Middle East as a whole.
Those present emphasized the importance of the work of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in Damascus in resolving consular issues.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia emphasized that the resolution of these issues will be promptly resolved in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Syria and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the SAR.
A warm and meaningful dialogue took place.
The meeting was also attended by Muhammad Ali, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic and Lasha Avidzba, the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.
