17 years ago, on September 9, 2008, diplomatic relations were established between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation. This momentous step created a legal basis for building relations of strategic alliance between our states.

On September 9, during the working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits to Moscow, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Director of the 4th CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Kalugin. The meeting was attended from the Abkhazian side by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Odissei Bigvava and Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Abkhazia in Russia Madina Avidzba.

Today the VDNH in Moscow hosted a working meeting between the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the of the International Cultural and Business Center, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits and the General Director of VDNH Sergey Shogurov.

On September 5, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Vataman took part in the international scientific and practical conference "Pridnestrovian statehood: history and modernity", dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the formation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

On September 2 and 3, at the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Nicaragua Inar Ladariia and Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in Nicaragua Alias ​​Aiba attended events dedicated to the 46th anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces of Nicaragua.

In Sukhum, the memory of those missing in action during the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia 1992-1993 was honored.

At the invitation of the Joint Organizing Committee for the Memory of the Victory over Japan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation Alkhas Kvitsiniia took part in a ceremonial event in the Column Hall of the House of Unions dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory over militarist Japan and the end of World War II.
