On January 15, 2026, Zaur Gvadzhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, participated in a special meeting dedicated to the annual address of Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez Gomez, at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela.

The speech focused on the results of 2025 and plans to protect the country's sovereignty.

Rodriguez emphasized that she is speaking on behalf of Nicolás Maduro to ensure administrative continuity and stability.

During her speech, Delcy Rodriguez clearly outlined Venezuela's renewed position on the international arena, emphasizing sovereignty and a willingness to engage in pragmatic dialogue.

The Acting President began by addressing legislators, emphasizing the importance of national unity: "I welcome those sectors of the opposition that have joined the work during this legislative period, as well as those MPs who served in the previous term. With great responsibility, I declare: a new policy is being formed in Venezuela. I ask ambassadors and diplomatic representatives to convey to their capitals and to the world the truth about our country."

Regarding the international agenda, Delcy Rodriguez was categorical about sovereignty. She emphasized Caracas's right to pursue a multi-vector policy, despite the complex geopolitical situation and pressure.

"Venezuela has a sovereign right to relations with China, Russia, Cuba, Iran, and the United States," she stated, noting that this right is inviolable even in the face of current military aggression.

Rodriguez reaffirmed her readiness to cooperate while adhering to the principle of non-interference: "There is no need to fear diplomacy. We are ready for a dialogue based on mutual respect and protection of the dignity of our people. Today, more than ever, Venezuela remains true to its principles. If I have to go to Washington, I will do so with the dignity that symbolizes the Venezuelan people - standing, not kneeling."
