The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua on the occasion of the sixteenth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of Nicaragua.

17 years ago, on September 9, 2008, diplomatic relations were established between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation. This momentous step created a legal basis for building relations of strategic alliance between our states.

On September 9, during the working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits to Moscow, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Director of the 4th CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Kalugin.
