On November 21, 2024, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia between Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Odissei Bigvava and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Abkhazia in the People's Republic of China Ge Zhili.

During the meeting, Odissei Bigvava expressed his respect for the People's Republic of China and its people. Noting that Abkhazia supports Beijing on the Taiwan issue and recognizes China's sovereignty over it, Bigvava expressed hope for a peaceful resolution of the issue. He also stated that Abkhazia, like its strategic ally Russia, like China, advocates for an equal and multipolar world.

Odissei Bigvava emphasized that Abkhazia is open to dialogue and welcomes initiatives that will lead to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties with China, and also advocates for attracting investments for the purpose of economic development.

Ge Zhili, for his part, expressed support for the prospect of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Abkhazia and China and expressed hope for further consultations.
