On May 15, a ceremonial meeting was held to commemorate the 33-rd anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, celebrated on May 17.

The event was attended by Vice President Beslan Bigvava, Vladimir Delba, Prime Minister, members of the government and deputies of the People's Assembly-Parliament, representatives of the judiciary, Mikhail Shurgalin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Abkhazia, Astamur Katsia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Abkhazia, Garry Kupalba, Official Representative of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to the Republic of Abkhazia, and others.

Speakers at the event included: Beslan Bigvava, Vice-President of the Republic of Abkhazia, who read a congratulatory address on behalf of Badra Zurabovich Gunba President; Oleg Bartsits, Foreign Minister; Saida, Butba, Chairperson of the Supreme Court; David Bzhania, Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General who read a congratulatory address on behalf of the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Beslan Tsvizhba; Mikhail Shurgalin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Abkhazia, who read a congratulatory address on behalf of Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia; Daur Kove, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Culture; and Esma Gurgulia, Head of the Department of History and Theory of International Relations at Abkhaz State University who read a congratulatory address on behalf of Aleko Gvaramia, Abkhaz State University Rector, Academician. Video congratulatory messages were shown from Akhsar Dzhioev, South Ossetian Foreign Minister, Vitaly Ignatiev, Transnistrian Foreign Minister, Waldrac Jentzke, Nicaraguan Foreign Minister and Jesús Rafael Salazar Velázquez, Venezuelan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia and Abkhazia.

During the ceremony, the honorary title of "Distinguished Employee of the Diplomatic Service" and diplomatic ranks were conferred on employees of the Central Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
