On November 14, Oleg Bartsits, Foreign Minister met with Vito Grittani, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia. The meeting was attended by Kan Tania, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation, and Camelia Darina-Pop, Vito Grittani's wife.
Oleg Bartsits noted that since 2016, Vito Grittani's activities have been aimed at strengthening of friendly ties with Abkhazia, promoting and creating a positive image of Abkhazia abroad, particularly in Europe. The Minister noted the implementation of such steps as the opening of a diplomatic mission of the Republic of Abkhazia in Bari and publications in European publications that present Abkhazia in the most favorable light.
Vito Grittani, thanking the Minister for the reception, spoke about the work carried out by the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Abkhazia in Italy and the challenges it faces. The Ambassador-at-Large emphasized that the diplomatic mission fulfills the functions of a diplomatic mission, establishes relations with political forces, and performs consular functions, assisting the citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia. Vito Grittani invited Oleg Bartsits to visit Italy, specifically Bari, where the diplomatic mission of Abkhazia in Italy is located.
Oleg Bartsits, thanking Vito Grittani for the invitation and accepted it. The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted: "We are guided by simple and effective principles in our work. We are ready to communicate and convey our point of view, our position, and the truth wherever it can be received. We believe it is important to act proactively and vigorously state our position."
The head of Abkhazia's Foreign Ministry spoke about the 65-th round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasus, which took place on November 11-12.
"We have stated our position directly, even firmly, to senior European officials and the Co-Chairs, including the UN, the European Union, and the OSCE. We discussed the new realities that have existed in the region for many years. There are independent states: The Republic of Abkhazia, our allies, the Republic of South Ossetia, and this will have to be taken into account, whether our eastern neighbors like it or not. With Russia's support, we are building our own state project, implementing and strengthening it, and these are the realities of our times," the Minister said.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on a wide range of issues on the joint agenda.
