Bashar al-Assad met with Bagrat Khutaba, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic

Bashar al-Assad, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic met with Bagrat Khutaba, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic at the Presidential Palace on July 28, 2020.

The ceremony of presenting of credentials was held at the reception.

Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian President expressed his respect to Aslan Bzhaniia, the President of Abkhazia and wished peace and prosperity to the entire Abkhaz people.

In turn, the Ambassador conveyed greetings on behalf of Aslan Bzhaniia, the President of Abkhazia as well as stressed that the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Syrian Arab Republic is a historic event and an important step in the development and strengthening of the relations between the two countries.

The President of Syria and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Abkhazia discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation between friendly states in various fields, such as economy, culture, tourism and sports.

The meeting was also attended by Walid al Muallem, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the SAR, Mansour Azzam, the Minister for Presidential Affairs of the SAR and Janbo Agrba, the Counselor of the RA Embassy in the SAR.
