On February 5, 2024, in Damascus at the Al-Shaab Palace, a ceremony was held to present credentials by the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic, Muhammad Ali, to the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad.

The Ambassador of Abkhazia was received with a guard of honor ceremony and the performance of the national anthems of Abkhazia and Syria.

During the meeting, President of Syria Bashar al-Assad conveyed greetings to President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania, recalling His visit to the Syrian Arab Republic in 2021. President al-Assad emphasized the friendly and fraternal nature of the relations connecting Him with President Bzhania.

The President of Syria also expressed wishes to the new Ambassador of Abkhazia to Syria for success in fulfilling the objectives facing him and emphasized the strength of Syrian-Abkhazian relations and the need to strengthen them in various political, economic and educational fields.

Ambassador Muhammad Ali, in turn, conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania to the President al-Assad, as well as an invitation to visit the Republic of Abkhazia on May 29, 2024, which coincides with the sixth anniversary of the recognition by the Syrian Arab Republic of the state sovereignty of the Republic of Abkhazia.


In addition, the Ambassador confirmed that Syria will always be a reliable partner for the government of the Republic of Abkhazia.
