On January 25, 2023, in Moscow, at the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Russian Federation, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Abkhazia to Syria, Bagrat Khutaba, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Russia, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari.

Bagrat Khutaba congratulated Mr. Jaafari on his appointment as Ambassador in November last year.

During the meeting, the diplomats discussed topical issues of Abkhazian-Syrian interstate cooperation in the political, trade, economic, banking spheres, as well as issues of interaction in the field of culture and sports.

Particular attention was paid to the upcoming meeting of the Joint Abkhazian-Syrian Committee on Economic, Trade, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which is scheduled to be held in the Republic of Abkhazia in 2023.
