The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a note of condolences to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic in connection with the untimely death of Walid al Muallem, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

“The news of the sudden death of Walid al Muallem, an outstanding diplomat, a prominent politician and selfless patriot of the Syrian Arab Republic was received with deep sorrow in the Republic of Abkhazia.

Mr. Muallem played a key role in building of global peace and stability in difficult times for the entire Middle East. His untimely death is a truly irreplaceable loss for world diplomacy.

Mr. Muallem will forever be remembered as a great and sincere friend of the Abkhaz people who made a significant contribution to the development of relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic. "
