The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent the note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of Venezuela's recognition of the independence and state sovereignty of Abkhazia.

The day of September 10, 2009 is truly the significant date in the newest history of our state. The decision of the leadership of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Rafael Chavez Frías, the great leader and the great friend of Abkhazia to support the historical right of the nation of Abkhazia to self-determination will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
We are pleased to note that the relations that have developed between our states over the years of cooperation are distinguished by feelings of friendship and mutual respect. We have the very good degree of mutual understanding and coincidence of positions on issues of bilateral cooperation. The agenda of our intergovernmental communication is saturated by new projects. We are ready to fully support of further expansion of the entire range of bilateral interaction. "
