The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a congratulatory note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on Defender of the Fatherland Day.

In particular, the congratulatory message notes:

"February 23 is a day of pride and remembrance. Today we thank those who laid down their heads for the sake of freedom and peace in their native land, the veterans, as well as those who today defend the security of the Fatherland. The people of South Ossetia have gone through difficult trials, but they have always shown indomitable willpower, valor and courage.
