Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation sent a congratulatory telegram to Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia on the occasion of the 10-th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.
It is said:
"Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 10-th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia, which became the legal consolidation of the historic decision of the Russian leadership adopted in August 2008 on recognizing the Republic of Abkhazia as an independent sovereign state.
The long traditions of friendship and common interests allowed our countries over the past decade to build multifaceted interstate relations based on the solid foundation of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance of September 17, 2008. New horizons of bilateral cooperation are defined in the Treaty on Alliance and Strategic Partnership signed on November 24, 2014.
We note with particular satisfaction the effective cooperation with the foreign policy departments. A well-functioning mechanism for consultation of coordination functions successfully. We highly appreciate the joint work on the platform of the Geneva discussions. Together we are solving the tasks of maintaining and strengthening regional security we are striving to expand the international position of Abkhazia.
I wish you and all the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia good health, new successes and prosperity.".
