Inal Ardzinba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia met with Bashar Jaafari, the new Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Russian Federation. The meeting was held at the Syrian embassy in Moscow.

Inal Ardzinba congratulated Mr. Jaafari on taking office in November this year.

The parties discussed topical issues of the Abkhaz-Syrian interstate cooperation in the political, trade, economic, and humanitarian spheres.

Particular attention was paid to the formation of a consultation mechanism at the level of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of South Ossetia. The start of work of the said four-party mechanism at the level of experts was agreed upon.

In addition, the parties noted the importance of expanding and intensifying of the dialogue with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The important role of Iran in the system of ensuring global security was noted.
