On 9 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia met with Matthias Weinreich, the Head of the ICRC Mission to the Republic of Abkhazia, 

Within the framework of the meeting, the epidemiological situation in the Republic of Abkhazia in connection with the spread of COVID-19 virus was discussed, and the progress of the Programme on search for missing persons because of the Georgian-Abkhazian war of 1992-1993 was discussed.

Matthias Weinreich informed the Minister that the ICRC continues to provide assistance in the fight against COVID-19, in particular, he reported that disinfection equipment and personal protective equipment have been delivered to local hospitals.

In turn, Daur Kove thanked the representatives of the Mission for the rendered support and stressed the importance of continuation of the ongoing work of the ICRC Mission on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The ICRC Mission has been working in Abkhazia since 1992 and conducts a range of humanitarian programmes.
