By the decree of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania, dated November 2, 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of Nicaragua was established.

"To open the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of Nicaragua in the city of Managua, due to the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of Nicaragua," the Decree of the Head of State says.

On September 3, 2008, Nicaragua recognized the independence of Abkhazia, and one year later diplomatic relations were established between the countries.
