Comment by the Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Martin Tarkil:

“The Republic of Abkhazia is ready to work with those who do not replace the humanitarian mission with a political one.

We can interact in various conditions, but not in conditions of a “policy of inclusion without recognition” and we call on engaged participants in the process to abandon outdated stereotypes.

Abkhazia is aware of the danger of such a policy and is making every effort to prevent such a scenario and will not allow it to drive a wedge into relations with Russia.

The desire for independence, fully supported by the Russian Federation and other friendly countries is a process that has lasted decades, a process of survival of the Abkhaz people, whose land is declared occupied either by the Abkhaz themselves, or now by Russia.

This aspiration cannot be the subject of any political or other discussions.

That is why any policy that directly or indirectly affects the fundamental values of the Abkhaz people will obviously fail, including the cessation of any contacts at the international level with those who do not support this desire.

Opponents of Abkhazia’s desire for international recognition of independence should understand that this desire cannot and will not be the subject of any discussion, even if this threatens to close the channels of communication with Abkhazia.”
