On June 27, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Inal Ardzinba met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey Alexei Yerkhov.

The meeting was held in Ankara, at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Turkey.

During the meeting, Ardzinba and Yerkhov discussed issues of mutual interest. The diplomats emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects within the framework of the functioning of the mechanism for coordinating foreign policy activities between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

Inal Ardzinba also paid tribute to the memory of Andrei Karlov, who worked as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkey from 2013 to 2016. Karlov died as a result of a terrorist attack in 2016.

Inal Ardzinba noted the great role of Karlov in the development of youth diplomacy.
