On June 22, 2023, a meeting was held in Istanbul between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Inal Ardzinba, and the Chairman of the Motherland Party (Vatan Partisi), Doğu Perinçek.

During the meeting, Doğu Perinçek said: “Our main common goal is the recognition of the state sovereignty of Abkhazia by Turkey. I assure you that we will achieve this in the very near future by joint efforts.”

Perinçek also noted the importance of developing a dialogue between the Republic of Abkhazia and Northern Cyprus.

Perinçek emphasized that "90% of Turkish citizens support the foreign policy of the Russian Federation." Inal Ardzinba noted that the special military operation is a step towards the formation of a new, more just system of international relations.
