Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia went on a working visit to the Republic of Nicaragua to participate in the celebrations devoted to the 40th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution.

During the visit, a number of meetings with the leadership of the country are planned, during which a discussion will be held on issues related to the further development of bilateral Abkhaz-Nicaraguan cooperation.

The Sandinista Revolution is a chain of events that ended on July 19, 1979 with the overthrow of the regime of Anastasio Somoza in Nicaragua. Since then, this day is celebrated in the republic as a public holiday.

On September 3, 2008, the Republic of Nicaragua recognized the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia, and on September 10, 2009, Abkhazia established diplomatic relations with Nicaragua.
