On February 10 the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia celebrated Diplomat's Day. Daur Kove, the head of the Abkhaz Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Odissey Bigvava, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia participated in the event.

The event traditionally began with the laying of flowers at the memorial plaque to Russian diplomat Dmitry Vishernev and his wife Olga Visherneva killed in the line of duty in Sukhum in September 2013.

Diplomat Day is celebrated in Russia on February 10. It was approved on October 31, 2002, and its historical basis was the date of establishment of the first Russian foreign policy agency - the Embassy's Order, the earliest mention of which dates back to February 10, 1549.
