26 years have passed since one of the most tragic events in the history of modern Abkhazia.
The helicopter was shot down over the high-mountain village of Lata by the troops of the Georgian State Council, which was making a humanitarian flight from the city of Tkuarchal besieged by Georgian fascists to Gudauta on December 14, 1992. The victims of this monstrous crime were 85 people, among whom were 35 children, 8 pregnant women and the elderly.
This brutal and inhuman act of cruelty, committed by the Georgian aggressor, cannot be justified and has no statute of limitations. On the anniversary of the Latvian tragedy, we mourn with our relatives and friends on the innocent victims.
