Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia concerning the pressure of the Georgian side on the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Syria
9 December 2021 900

On December 6, 2021, Bagrat Khutab, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Feng Biao, Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Syrian Arab Republic met at the Embassy of the PRC in Damascus. The meeting was held in a constructive business atmosphere. Both sides expressed interest in establishing relations on a wide range of issues.

However, after the meeting, for several days now we have been receiving information about the pressure of the Georgian side is trying to put on the PRC Ambassador to Syria. In particular, the Georgian side expresses its dissatisfaction with the disseminated information materials from the last meeting.

The Republic of Abkhazia is a sovereign state and conducts an independent foreign policy in accordance with the Basic Law of our country. We are not interested in the opinion of the Georgian side on international meetings of our official representatives. We recommend Georgian diplomats to adhere to the rules of international communication, as well as the norms of international law.
