On March 12, 2024, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic, Muhammad Ali, held a meeting with the Minister of Transport of the Syrian Arab Republic, Zuhair Khazim.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of maritime and air transport of the two countries and measures to intensify cooperation between the ports of Abkhazia and Syria.

Particular attention was paid to taking advantage of the geographical location of both countries and creating a favorable economic and trade environment through simplifying consular procedures and stimulating exports and imports.

In addition, the parties emphasized the importance of opening the V.G. Ardzinba Sukhum International Airport, which will contribute to the implementation of socio-economic and strategic goals that express the interests of the peoples of both friendly countries.
