On April 11, 2022, Bagrat Khutab, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic, met with Dr. Faisal Mikdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Compatriots Abroad of the SAR.
Issues of development of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic were discussed at the meeting.
Faisal Mikdad, Syrian Foreign Minister thanked Bagrat Khutab for his active work in building bilateral relations between Abkhazia and Syria. The Minister testified to the high importance for the Syrian side of the visit of Aslan Bzhaniya, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic in May 2021.
SAR Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad expressed hope for strengthening of bilateral relations between Syria and Abkhazia. The parties also emphasized the high merits of the famous representatives of the Abkhazian diaspora in Syria Mamdukh Abaza Marshyan and Walid Abaza Marshyan, who played an important role in protecting the interests of the Syrian Arab Republic.
