On November 10, the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry hosted a working meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Daur Kove with the Co-chairman of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia from the UN Anti Turunen and Senior Political Adviser to the UN Special Representative to the Geneva discussions Hailu Mamo.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Kan Tania, Head of the Information Department Tengiz Tarba, Head of the Department of Europe the United States and Canada Artur Gaguliya.
At the beginning of the meeting Antti Turunen congratulated Daur Kove on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and expressed readiness for joint cooperation primarily in the framework of the Geneva discussions and IPRM.
Daur Kove noted that the Geneva discussions are an important platform for direct dialogue between Abkhazia and international community and it is important to continue this format. He also expressed readiness for constructive dialogue at the forthcoming talks in Geneva.
The meeting covered a wide range of issues related to the agenda and the thematic content of the upcoming 38th round of the Geneva discussions, and discussed the future prospects of the negotiation process. They also spoke about the progress of negotiations in the framework of the IPRM which takes place in the town of Gal.
The main purpose of the talks in Geneva remains the signing of the agreement on nonuse of force.
The next 38th round of the Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia is scheduled for 13-14 December 2016.
