Today, August 14, marks 34 years since the start of the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia (1992-1993).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia notes with concern reports of pressure on experts and human rights activists raising issues related to the rights of citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia.

A consultative meeting was held at the Plenipotentiary Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Turkey with representatives of the Federation of Abkhaz Associations— Yavuz Ilkuchar (Atyrshba), Chairman, Shamil Zeren (Yashba), Secretary, General Board Members Bulent Barysh (Pechlia), Selda Oztaş (Byjpkha), and Dzhankat Yelkat (Ubykh), as well as Chairman of the Abkhaz Cultural Center "Daryeri" Atanur Aksoy (Akuspa)—and the initiative group "End the Isolation of Abkhazia," consisting of Cengiz Gul (Gogua), Anit Baba (Pabba), Ulvi Ozcan (Khukshi), Ahmet Babaoglu, Bilge Eken, and Dilara Tan (Kabypkha).

Nuri Khvartskiy, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation attended a diplomatic reception organized by the Center for Public Diplomacy, which took place in Moscow as part of the presentation of a platform for Russian-African dialogue.

On August 8-9, the traditional annual summer cultural and gastronomic festival took place in Managua, Republic of Nicaragua, bringing together representatives from more than 40 countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a note of condolence to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the 18th anniversary of the beginning of Georgia's armed aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia considers it necessary to comment on the criminal case opened against Giorgi Baramidze, former Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister of Georgia in connection with his public statements regarding war crimes committed against the Abkhaz people during Georgia's armed aggression against the Republic of Abkhazia in 1992-1993.

With the support of the Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Syrian Arab Republic, Muhammad Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic, participated in the opening of ceremony of three specialized industrial exhibitions organized by the Mashhadani Industrial Group.

On August 4, 2026, an awards ceremony for the winners and runners-up of the Abkhazia Domino Championship was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, congratulated Zaur Gvadzhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on his birthday.

On August 4, 2026, a meeting was held between Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Dmitry Savelyev, Director General of the Center for Public Diplomacy, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Participants in this stage included young representatives of the Abkhaz diaspora from Turkey and Germany, as well as students from boarding schools in the Republic of Abkhazia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia regrets the forced nature of the decision of the Republic of Nauru to terminate diplomatic relations with the Republic of Abkhazia, made under unprecedented and systematic external pressure.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a congratulatory note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the occasion of the sixteenth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The holiday was established by Law No. 1056-с-XIV of the Republic of Abkhazia dated June 3, 2005, and commemorates the historic decision of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia, chaired by Vladislav Grigorievich Ardzinba, dated July 23, 1992.
